"Birdcage" This mic combines an omnidirectional dynamic and a Fig. 8 ribbon in one housing. By blending the transducer signals different polar pattern can be acheived.

This mic was one of the most used model of mics in recording and broadcast in America starting around 1938. A typical application can be seen here
